10 Motivational Thoughts to Live By
I often find myself moved and encouraged by the words of philosophers, thought leaders, successful entrepreneurs and philanthropists who have gone before me. I look to them for that extra motivation and inspiration I sometimes need to keep going when the going feels tough or when I feel I’m out of ideas or lack the courage to try something new.
Once in a while I share these golden nuggets of wisdom on my social media pages and folks seem to like it. Today I thought I’d share a few here.
On Success
Success is measured in so many different ways by so many different people; the reality is, though, that most are confused about what success really is, often misunderstanding the meaning of success and deeming it measured only by material things and wealth.
Sure material things are sometimes a benefit of success, but a truly successful person understands that success is really more about the journey than the destination.
On Doing What You Love
I can’t count how many times I’ve talked about the short time we have on this earth and the importance of doing what you love; the importance of living your life according to your own design, not by default.
Life has too few precious hours to be wasting them away on doing something you don’t want to be doing. Life is to be celebrated and enjoyed; never to be endured.
On Opportunity
Opportunity can sometimes stem from paradox and is usually missed as a result; sheer lack of vision often renders opportunity mute. Trust me when I tell you that there is opportunity in every situation. One only needs to be open to it; open to imagination; open to optimism; open to the vision of possibility.
Some of the most successful among us will tell you that their greatest opportunities came straight from their greatest failures. Locked doors are only there so that you can find the open ones and sometimes we must create our own doors where they are needed.
Finally, many of us wait for the right circumstances, the right time, the right amount of money, the right opportunity; stop waiting. Just do something. Just make it happen no matter what.
On Habit
Everything we do, every single day, makes or breaks our life, our dreams, and our successes. When you wake up in the morning and give thanks before your feet hit the floor, you are living a life of gratitude, which will in turn manifest more to be grateful for. When you suit up and show up no matter what, you are present to reap the rewards of your daily diligence.
Habits form our lives, whether they are good ones or not so good ones. Don’t let negativity or lethargy rule your world; live the life you dream of today and make positivity, energy, and movement your daily habit. When you do, you will be amazed at the things that happen.
On Doubt and Self Pity
Stop whining and start living.
OK, so maybe things haven’t gone so well up till now. The question is: What are you going to do about it today?
When you think about past mistakes, beat yourself up, or malign yourself as not good enough, not smart enough or not (fill in the blank) enough, you are bound for failure.
Doubt and self pity are poison. Make a decision change your thoughts; it may sound cliche, but I promise you it will change your future.
